Abstract

Objectives: To evaluation the results of ultrasound application in supporting of implanted port surgery for cancer patients at Bach Mai Hospital. Subjects: Including 260 cancer patients placed of implanted port surgery under ultrasound guidance from January 2022 to April 2023.

Methods: Prospective descriptive study.

Results: The average age was 56 years old, most of the patients were diagnosed at late stage, stage III - IV (86.2%). The accuracy rate of central venous exploration under ultrasound guidance is 100% at the first time. The majority of patients received an implanted port with the catheter entering the lumen in the right internal jugular vein with 250 (96.2%) patients. The average time to complete implanted port surgery under ultrasound guidance  technique was 13,8 minutes. There is a small percentage of patients with hematoma in the insertion site, 1.9%, bleeding at the incision site was recorded in 2 (0.7%) patients. All patients felt satisfied, very satisfied when placed of implanted port surgery under ultrasound guidance.

Conclusions: Placing the  implanted port surgery under ultrasound guidance helps to shorten the execution time, limit the complications, as well as contribute to satisfaction and the quality of life of the patients.
