MRI FEATURES OF INTRACRANIAL SOLITARY FIBROUS TUMORS: A SERIES OF 9 CASES
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To describe MRI features of intracranial solitary fibrous tumors (IUXĐĐNSs). Methods: A retrospective case series of 9 histopathologically confirmed IUXĐĐNS patients who underwent 1.5T brain MRI (T1W, T2W, FLAIR, DWI, post-gadolinium T1W). Morphology, signal intensity, dural attachment characteristics, enhancement pattern, DWI restriction, and relative ADC (rADC = ADC min/normal white matter ADC) were evaluated. Results: Mean age 49.2 ± 11.9 years; female/male = 6/3. All 9 tumors were extra-axial dural-based, mean diameter 58.0 ± 9.6 mm. Key findings: narrow dural attachment 100% (base-to-diameter ratio 0.61 ± 0.13); lobulated contour 77.8%; characteristic T2W internal low-signal lines 77.8%; intense enhancement 100% (heterogeneous 55.6%); flow void 77.8%; DWI restriction 55.6%; mean rADC 1.012 ± 0.278, decreasing with WHO grade (grade I: 1.174; grade II: 0.853; grade III: 0.606). No calcification or hemorrhage. Conclusion: The characteristic of narrow dural attachment, lobulated morphology, and flow void, combined with rADC, provides valuable MRI criteria for differentiating IUXĐĐNS from meningioma.
