Abstract

Purposes: Evaluation the role of PET/CT in the staging of NSCLC. Methods and Materials: Retrospectiveand prospective
clinical interventions in 81 diagnosed NSCLC patients, who were taken PET/CT at the Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Center,
Bach Mai hospital from January 2014 to May 2016.
Results: The patients’average age was 59years old (from the youngest 34 to the oldest 77). The male/female rate: 37/1. The
detection ratio of lymph node metastasis and bone metastasis were changed from 48.2% to 76.5% and from 14.8% to 32.1%,
respectively. 25 patients (30.8%) were increased and 3 patients (3.7%) were reduced their staging by using PET/CT compared with other methods. The grade IV patients were raised from 51.8% to 56.8% and 32% of the patients were changed therapy plan.
Conclusion: PET/CT is anadvantaged method in the staging of NSCLC. Staging NSCLC accurately is essential for treatment
outcomes as it guided the optimal therapy for individual patient.
